Hello fellow Tibians,

here we discuss the new quest The Rise of Podzilla, the tasks and the boss-fight.
In this Quest (starting in the harbor of Edron) you have the chance to delve into the depths of Tibias biggest monstrosity yet and encounter a whole slew of new enemies (on which you please comment in the dedicated thread and NOT here).
On your mission you will encounter some obstacles that will test your skill and cunning.
The lever tasks are on a short cooldown of 30 minutes, which should encourage you to try them on your own and not hamper quest progression for too long.
The boss battle will need your attention and strategy to handle the mechanics with some tactics. In the live system and here, the battle will have a cooldown of 20 hours to stay in line with other boss fights. You might reset the cooldown as usual on test servers.

Report here about:
* Problems in the Quest itself, such as its progression, inconsistencies, or the like.
* The tasks, that is namely the 3 parts of the quest, that are started via a lever. Here you can report any problems you encountered, doing them.
* The final Boss-fight, where you use your knowledge from the 3 previous tasks to defeat Dr. Marrow and his newest creation. Please report any problems and concerns with the mechanics. Comment on the difficulty and loot OF THIS BOSS also go here.

What does not belong here are comments about monsters and loot in the hunting grounds, issues with the map, and problems with the 'open world missions,' that is, the quest elements that take place on the map without lever rooms.

Try to report to the dedicated threads to keep them less messy and ensure your feedback is seen timely by the right addressees.

Please stay respectful and constructive towards each other, when commenting others' feedback.
Have fun testing.

Tibian Greetings,
Knightmare
The cooldown is only 10 minutes, to prevent blocking of the access.
Also you get a shortcut option in the dialogue with captain Seahorse after you did the travel part once.
It's intentional, that the sprout can ba damaged, as it requires to pay more attention and use a tad more skill than just brute forcing it.
It's ok, if it's no possible or a personal challenge to do a task solo.
I think making it possible to just give the input 'shortcut' on your own, would be reasonable. We will consider to add that.
In the next iteration, the shortcut option in captain Seahorse will ignore the cooldown on the mission, yet you still have to go through the Gunther option and can then click on shortcut. The additional effort was deemed minimal and avoids possible confusion if other shortcuts for other quests might be added over time.
We will monitor the boss fight's difficulty, and will adjust it accordingly, yet as of now, I can't tell for what changes we might settle.
Hello Tibians,

with the testserver update this afternoon we introduced the following changes (which should be live now) to address some problems with the bossfight against the Rootkraken:
  • hit points of the Rootkraken was lowered significantly
  • damage from acquired spells (from the writhing mass) now also damages the Rootkraken
  • in addition to the acquired spells, also the planted lootable seeds are able to damage the Rootkraken
  • hit points of the writhing mass was lowered
  • writhing mass is not anymore immune to earth damage
  • slightly increased the time-dependent reduction of stacks
Happy bossfighting,
Shazaya
Is it intended that only the people inside the room when the boss dies get "full" credit?
To finalize the quest you will have to be present when the boss is beaten. No fleeing or death are allowed.
Hello Tibians,

we hope our changes yesterday helped to make this bossfight against the Rootkraken more manageable.

Regarding the changes yesterday we would like to add the following information to the patchlog for the testserver update yesterday:
  • in addition to the acquired spells, also the planted lootable seeds are able to damage the Rootkraken
The previous patchlog was updated accordingly.

Have a nice weekend and good luck facing the Rootkraken
Shazaya
Hello Tibians,
How does the seed mechanic work on the final fight? Do we have to acquire them beforehand ?
Could you add seeds to assistant, please
You can acquire the seeds from hunting, although these items are quite rare. That is why we decided to place some seeds for testing in the boss room of the Rootkraken. These will only be available during the test of the summer update.

This change should already be live.

The seed mechanics are similar to the tower defense task.

Happy Rootkraking!
Shazaya
In one of the next iterations, probably on Thursday, we will add some more changes to the bossfight:
The minions will get slightly less resilient.
New minions will spawn a bit less frequent.
The minions take a bit longer to switch to the next, more dangerous and more resilient shapes.
The fight will end after 15 minutes instead of after 10.
Hello Tibians,

we have fixed the following bugs:
The Amber Crusher. Hmmm... Each kill? Maybe only for the first time?
Amber crusher is dropped from each kill - do you want it to be so available?
From now on you should receive the amber crusher only for the first kill of The Rootkraken.

Boss dropped Cruelty's chest which was kinda confusing
This was confusing for me as well
The Rootkraken now has his own boss creature products.

Happy testing,
Shazaya
Thank you for your participation, feedback and untiring hunt for bugs (plus some Quara' and plants).
With your help, all hick-ups have hopefully been found and eradicated.
The balance of the tasks and boss-fights seem acceptable to us, though some minor tweaks in numbers might occur till release.
Now the time has come for a last polishing until we unleash this newest threat to the regular servers, for all of you to enjoy.
Have fun with the update and we'll see each other on the next test-servers at latest.

Tibian greetings,
Knightmare
