As for the idea to sort also by time left we decided to implement it this way. Also to "group" items by sorting by name (so similar items are after each other) before sorting by charges/time left in this group.
Other ideas are still in discussion.

As for changing the manual sort mode to swapping of items instead of inserting it at the dropped position: both mechanisms have advantages and disadvantages when it comes to create a specific order. The current mechanism is the one that is nearest to when manual sort mode is switched off (other items will be shifted too).
Swapping would also be strange when you drop an item from a different container since the item in the destination slot would have to change its container. Otherwise it would again be an insert at that position while shifting the existing items.
As for other suggestions like mouse button binding, moving into nested containers etc...these are wishes that are unrelated to the Quick Sort feature and won't be done in the scope of this feature.
