Feedback Guideline: Open discussion.

Our vision for the role of the monk:
  • Primary role: Damage dealer
  • Secondary role: Healer
Due to the nature of mantra and the missing offhand slot, the monk's lower levels will be harder. This is by design.
We hope players accept that challenging path to enlightenment.

How does it feel to play the monk?
How does the monk fit into Tibia?
Where does the monk feel too good or too weak?

Hiya and thanks for inviting. I will test the monk later, but meanwhile I logged in to my test account and I have found that my deleted chars have been smuggled here. I could undelete them and probably I can login and play them. Character name: Royal Affe

I cant login to them right now, becasue I am at work, but this is unwelcome situation I suppose.

Maybe it's not a big deal, but I just wanted to report this.
Thank you.

The Dawnport experience is a little lacking for Monk.
Other than looking up the four shrines, there's no progression on Dawnport itself. No additional weapons or spells.

The NPC does not give any real feedback for finding all shrines, and the quest log remains uncompleted with the same information as before.

Also, you cannot get any spells as Monk. Not even Cure Poison, Light, Levitate, etc...
Thanks for the feedback.
Hello everyone,

People struggle to get the quest to leave main
I see that people are struggling how to go to main as monk, mostly because there no "blue" words to click in the npc chat that leads you to main. ...
I've forwarded it to Lionet.

Regarding reaching main as Monk.
I just stepped outside of the Blue Valley and immediately clicked on the shrine. I'm not sure what the quest log is supposed to say, but what I see is:
Most recent visited Merudri shrine: 2/11

However I only visited one? If the first one is inside the Blue Valley, I did not find it.
The first one was on dawnport.

So upon leaving dawnport, your backpack is switched to a new one. I am fine with it, but there definitely is no warning as others have said.
We'll add a warning and even add a shovel and rope to your new belongings when entering the Blue Valley.

Please get rid of the Cake Golems, I know the first few levels of the Monk should be hard, but this gives me 0 desire to test anything since I have to walk drunk to wherever...
Sorry for making it harder than it needed to be. This was obviously not intended.

Also, the spell list when right clicking the action bar > Edit Spell, has "Only show learnt spell" ticked by default, but all spells are shown anyway. Making me have to double click the checker to only see learnt spells.
Thanks. We'll fix it.

I really beliave the need to a single handed weapon in order to hold a shield.
We really believe monks do not need a shield. It will take some time, but there are tons of monsters, where the monk can make use of mantra to be more efficient hunting those.

I've just noticed that there isn't a way to become a monk from rookgaard/island of destiny. Is that intended?
Yes.

leaving Monk from Dawnport was a little bit confusing even for experienced player so it should be looked to make it more user-friendly especially for new player. The talks with NPC and statues were a little bit confusing at very beginning.
We'll improve this.

kind request: can we get teleports to the monk area every temple please
...
If this is intended i would like to be able to get to blue valley also from other towns.
...
As you can travel to the Blue Valley from the adventurer's guild and every temple allows you to travel to the adventurer's guild this is possible already.

Is it correct when I attack a monster and have a pt above level 20 using harmony that it heals another player who is on a floor below?
No, it should only work on your floor.

The magic is infinite "Cast Virtue of Justice", does not take away the fist bonus.
Please elaborate what the issue is.

The Serenate state feels too simplisticit just doubles your Mantra points. It would be more interesting if it provided additional benefits, such as:
Serenity does increase a lot more than mantra. However these additional bonuses are unlocked at higher levels. It doubles the power of all three virtues (Level 20+) and it doubles the bonus for autoattacks you can collect from shrines.

There is currently a bug, where is you buy your promotion on the thais king rather than at Blue Valley you do not get the Virtue spells and you are stuck with just the harmony virtue.
Thank you for reporting. It is intended for the monk to only be able to promote in the Blue Valley.
I used all monk gear available at lv 21 in the current test server. I have decided on what gear I will have my monk use once its live and unfortunately it is none of the monk gear until the 40 range (except weapons).

Once I swapped to a demon helmet (T2 Void, T2 Fist), Dwarven Armor (T2 Vamp), Dwarven Legs/Zao Legs the character became enjoyable. The assistant didnt offer werewolf amulet or rings of healing but these will be go to items as well once update is live and will fix a lot of what the current test phase monk is missing. All of these items will be available at lv 8 depending on cap (bp imbued with T3 featherweight).

It feels wrong to not use any monk gear, but the ease and enjoyment of the items above really feels like a "required" in the early game over a "This is nice/great to have".
We'll take a look at it, however in general it is fine if a low level monk makes use of some non-monk items. Currently this is probably too extreme however.

For now I would like to echo the other posters that it doesn't feel right to have the harmony charges by the left health arc. I am getting confused about my health level because of that. Please consider moving it to the right, or at least adding some custimization in the options for people to choose it themselves.
Thanks. We are looking into improving this.

In general, please post all things regarding your journey on and from Dawnport to the Blue Valley in the correspoding thread. The same is true for feedback regarding hp/mana/cap per level.

And finally, all issues regarding level 150 characters on dawnport should be fixed.

Happy testing,
Niadus

I noticed that whenever I used a spender spell whilst Virtue of harmony is active, I always get 1 harmony charge automatically, but not when using Virtue of Justice nor Virtue of Sustain. I suppose this is intended but still would like an answer, so I can take this into account for spells rotation. Loving all the mechanics so far, maybe I would reduce cooldown on Greater Flurry of Blows by 2 secs so it fits perfect with the rotation, but using Chained Penance does the trick most of the times!
This is one of the upsides of using Virtue of Harmony. It will refund 1 Harmony and thus, Virtue of Justice and Virtue of Harmony will lead to different rotations.

Got myself surrounded by 6, 7 even 8 mobs and kept the serene state anyways, is this a bug or you guys chose to adjust it?

I kept seeing my pink bar and the circle above my screen active.

I think I got all the screenshots here!
If you are not in a party, your character will always be serene as the monk only has to fulfill one of the two conditions. For more details look here:
Monk isn´t too strong? Is it intended? Other vocations at 150 with so much more skill can´t do what he is capable of with 80 fist right now
That's what we are going to find out. There is only so much one can calculate and test in preparation.

Monk feels very fun to play!
Thanks. That really puts a smile on my face.

@Cucharaman: Thanks for your detailed gameplay feedback. I agree healing from Virtues seems overtuned and Chained Penace perhaps a bit too restricted.

@Kusnier: It's great to hear that the monk performs decently.
Regarding your detailed proposal of directional spellcast towards targets: I think this is quite the interesting idea. I've put it on my list but doubt it'll get used for the monk at this time.

In general: We want to provide a unique gameplay experience for the monk and we hope that the combination of Harmony, Mantra as well as having unique spellshapes will provide that even if it might take some time to find out the optimal hunting grounds and playpatterns.

Happy testing,
Niadus
Hey Niadus, could you please update the second post on this thread to link your official replies? Makes it easier for us to track.
I've added them now. Thanks for bringing it up.

So, from the devs' perspective, is it intentional that there are hunts where monks simply won't be able to hunt efficiently?
Yes. This happens for most vocations. We'll watch it however and are prepared to make changes. For now 3 elements seem fine.

...but the way it's set up in the test server, it completely overshadows and takes the place of the druid.
We don't want that either. At the end of all testing phases, the druid shall rain supreme on his healing domain. But we'll get their. Virtue healing is currently just too good.

I understand that high damage spells are because initially monk can damage 6, not 8 creatures solo. However the damage and sustain of a 150 level monk is just too high compared to other vocations. Maybe it balances more at higher level, but the damage should be lowered at lower levels.
I agree.

I got curious after Ashen Lady's comment and decided to test the difference between two level 150 characters that had been provided. One had 10/11 Shrines unlocked, while the other had just 2/11. I kept everything the same for both: same set, skills, Ultimate Spirit Potion, with no variations apart from the Shrines. The test was conducted using only auto attacks. Feel free to try it yourselves.

Even though their Offense and Defense Stats showed identical numbers (aka not yet accounted for in our current stats), in practice, their performance was entirely different. The Monk with 10/11 Shrines took down the Diremaw ease, whereas the one with 2/11 Shrines struggled significantly to kill the same creature. I didn't even need to hunt properly, just fighting a single creature was enough to see the gap between the two.
We'll add a way to be able to know how big and important that bonus actually is.

General answers:
It's really great to read that the general flow and feel is fun and works ingame better than it reads on first glance.
Out main concern currently is the powerlevel coming the spells and Virtue healing. For more information please look at the Spell and Harmony System thread.
In addition we are looking at physical protection especially for lower levels.

Thanks a lot for providing numbers or even better videos. These are a great help.

Happy hunting,
Niadus
