Roost of the Graveborn

For the weapons of the Roost of the Graveborn questline four new perks for the weapon proficiency system have been implemented:

Alpha Strike
Alpha Strike will increase your damage against enemies with full health.

Omega Strike
Omega Strike will increase your damage against enemies below 30% hit points.

Armor Penetration
This perk effectively reduces the armor of an enemy by a given percentage.

Elemental Pierce
Elemental Pierce increases the sensitivity of an enemy by a given percentage.
  • It also works for physical sensitivities.
  • The increase is halved above sensitivities of 100% (rounded up).
  • Sensitivities of 0% can never be increased.
  • Can double the sensitivity at most.
  • This logic will be also applied to the following existing content:
    • Expose Weakness (value increased from 4% to 8%)
    • Ballistic Mastery (value increased from 2% to 4%)
    • Amplification Potions (value increased from 8% to 16%)
Example 1:
A monster has a holy sensitivity of 90%. You have an active perk with Elemental Pierce Holy +6%. This results in an effective holy sensitivity of 96%.
Example 2:
A monster has a holy sensitivity of 104%. You have an active perk with Elemental Pierce Holy +6%. This results in an effective holy sensitivity of 107%.
Example 3:
A monster has a holy sensitivity of 96%. You have an active perk with Elemental Pierce Holy +8%. This results in an effective holy sensitivity of 102%
Example 4:
A monster has a physical sensitivity of 4%. You have an active perk with Elemental Pierce Physical +20%. This results in an effective physical sensitivity of 8% (can only be doubled).


The items have a minimum level requirement of 450 and a classification of 4.
Here only the base stats will be listed. For a more detailed overview especially regarding the weapon proficiencies please have a look ingame.

We hope you have a lot of fun testing the testserver. Right now we are busy collecting and evaluating your feedback which is much appreciated.

There have been some questions which we would like to address:

Does sensitivity bonuses are character bounded or it applies on creatures overall.
Elemental Pierce is bound to your attack and does not alter the sensitivity of a monster for other players.

Will the new Alpha and Omega strike effects be applied to players in combat as well as monsters?
Armor Penetration, Alpha Strike and Omega Strike will work on players as well. Elemental Pierce will only work on monsters.

Does full hitpoints mean 100 % or green hitpoints (>60 %)?
Full hit points means 100 %.

Remember that the EK has reflection on its equipment and creatures are almost never at full HP, especially when hunting in PT.
We are aware of issues regarding damage reflection in combination with Alpha Strike and are working on a solution.

If you have, for instance, 3 players with the same pierce attribute (same element), will it sum the percentages, consider only the highest percentage or proc only the last attack pierce value?
It will not sum up the percentages as the Elemental Pierce works only for your attack. During calculation of your damage the sensitivity of the monster is regarded as being x % higher.

Earth/Fire/Energy Pierce for physical weapons. Are you serious?
This quote is a sum up of several comments on the Elemental Pierce perks for knights.
The idea behind this is to give you the opportunity to choose between two distinct proficiency pathways dependent on the hunting ground.
To use the mixed elemental/physical path the conversion imbuement will be necessary but our goal is to allow two equally competitive builds that shine under different circumstances as well as to provide an additional incentive for the underused conversion imbuements. We are still evaluating your feedback that this pathway is currently underperforming.

With the testserver update this afternoon the following change was implemented:

Knight Stag Legs / Stag Shield / Refined Stag Shield
  • changed augment spell from Front Sweep to Berserk

We are still working on the weapon proficiency changes for the crypt weapons.
So you can expect some changes next week.

Can you explain how % armor penetration works?

I can think of two implementations:

1) I have 10% armor penetration perk, and I'm attacking a creature with 50 armor, it will treat it like a creature with 45 armor.

2) I have 10% armor penetration perk, and a creature blocks 50 damage with its armor, then an additional 5 physical damage goes through.
It should work like your first point. The monster armor is treated as being e.g. 10% lower.

we have made changes to all proficiencies of the new Crypt weapons. Please note that these changes are not on the testserver yet, but you will probably be able to test them out tomorrow.

Knight: Crypt Slicer / Crypt Splitter / Crypt Breaker
  • Level 2, 3 and 6: Significantly increased armor penetration (approx. doubled)
  • Level 3, 5 and 7: Significantly increased earth pierce (approx. doubled)
  • Level 6: Changed "percentage of magic level as spell damage" to "percentage of magic level as healing"
  • Level 7: Changed armor penetration to physical pierce

Paladin: Crypt Spine
  • Level 2, 3 and 7: Slightly increased armor penetration and reduced number of perks to achieve this number (4 -> 3)
  • Level 2: Slightly reduced "percentage of magic level as auto-attack damage" and "percentage of magic level as healing"
  • Level 5 and 6: Switched attack and "percentage of magic level as spell damage"
  • Level 6: Changed armor penetration to holy magic level +1

Sorcerer: Crypt Bile
  • Protection: Energy +5% -> Fire +6%
  • Level 2: Changed energy magic level and "percentage of magic level as spell damage" to +1 magic level and critical extra damage for energy spells and runes
  • Level 3: Significantly increased physical pierce and slightly reduced alpha strike damage
  • Level 5: Slightly reduced mana leech
  • Level 7: Changed physical pierce to critical extra damage for physical spells and runes
  • Reduced mana cost for auto-attack on base weapon

Druid: Crypt Jaw
  • Protection: Earth +5% -> Energy +6%
  • Level 2: Changed earth magic level and "percentage of magic level as spell damage" to +1 magic level and critical extra damage for earth spells and runes
  • Level 3: Significantly increased physical pierce and slightly reduced alpha strike damage
  • Level 5: Slightly reduced mana leech
  • Level 7: Changed physical pierce to critical extra damage for physical spells and runes
  • Reduced mana cost for auto-attack on base weapon

Monk: Crypt Strike
  • Level 2, 3 and 6: Significantly increased armor penetration (approx. doubled)
  • Level 5: Switched armor penetration to level 6.
    Changed magic level as spell damage to magic level as healing.
  • Level 6: Switched attack +2 to Level 5. Removed magic level as spell and changed it to armor penetration.
  • Level 7: Changed armor penetration to physical pierce.

In general we are happy with the stag order equipment and the crypt weapons. Because of the new complexity of the new weapons there still might be some changes to numbers but the overall design will not change anymore.

Regarding numbers you can still provide feedback. Especially real hunting results are very valuable to check if the systems (e.g. pierce, penetration) are working properly.

Speaking of systems not working properly:

Some of you pointed out that the physical pierce is not correctly working for charms (e.g. wound charm). You're right. Elemental pierce is working as expected but physical pierce does not get applied to the charm damage. The fix will probably not hit the testserver but will be ready before release.

In addition we decided for the following change:

Stag Helmet
  • Old - Protection: Energy +6
  • New - Protection: Energy +8

Before we wrap things up, we want to thank you all once again for your feedback on the new gear introduced in this year's winter update. Besides the changes that were implemented on the testserver, we have also taken note of your additional suggestions and may consider them for future item designs.

While the overall designs of the crypt weapons and stag equipment will not change anymore, we are currently making sure that everything is working as intended and might still tweak some numbers ahead of release.
